Luke 6:43-45
43 “A good tree cannot have bad fruit. A bad tree cannot have good fruit. 44 For every tree is known by its own fruit. Men do not gather figs from thorns. They do not gather grapes from thistles. 45 Good comes from a good man because of the riches he has in his heart. Sin comes from a sinful man because of the sin he has in his heart. The mouth speaks of what the heart is full of.
Proverbs 18:20-21
20 A man’s stomach will be filled with the fruit of his mouth. He will be filled with what his lips speak. 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
Ephesians 4:29-32
29 Watch your talk! No bad words should be coming from your mouth. Say what is good. Your words should help others grow as Christians. 30 Do not make God’s Holy Spirit have sorrow for the way you live. The Holy Spirit has put a mark on you for the day you will be set free. 31 Put out of your life all these things: bad feelings about other people, anger, temper, loud talk, bad talk which hurts other people, and bad feelings which hurt other people. 32 You must be kind to each other. Think of the other person. Forgive other people just as God forgave you because of Christ’s death on the cross.
Proverbs 13:2-3
2 The one who is careful what he says will have good come to him, but the one who wants to hurt others will have trouble. 3 He who watches over his mouth keeps his life. He who opens his lips wide will be destroyed.
Proverbs 17:27-28
27 He who is careful in what he says has much learning, and he who has a quiet spirit is a man of understanding. 28 Even a fool, when he keeps quiet, is thought to be wise. When he closes his lips, he is thought of as a man of understanding.
Proverbs 15:4
4 A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but a sinful tongue crushes the spirit.
1 Peter 3:8-12
8 Last of all, you must share the same thoughts and the same feelings. Love each other with a kind heart and with a mind that has no pride. 9 When someone does something bad to you, do not do the same thing to him. When someone talks about you, do not talk about him. Instead, pray that good will come to him. You were called to do this so you might receive good things from God. 10 For “If you want joy in your life and have happy days, keep your tongue from saying bad things and your lips from talking bad about others. 11 Turn away from what is sinful. Do what is good. Look for peace and go after it. 12 The Lord watches over those who are right with Him. He hears their prayers. But the Lord is against those who sin.”
Matthew 12:34-37
34 You family of snakes! How can you say good things when you are sinful? The mouth speaks what the heart is full of. 35 A good man will speak good things because of the good in him. A bad man will speak bad things because of the sin in him. 36 I say to you, on the day men stand before God, they will have to give an answer for every word they have spoken that was not important. 37 For it is by your words that you will not be guilty and it is by your words that you will be guilty.”
Proverbs 31:8-9
8 Open your mouth for those who cannot speak, and for the rights of those who are left without help. 9 Open your mouth. Be right and fair in what you decide. Stand up for the rights of those who are suffering and in need.
James 1:19-21
19 My Christian brothers, you know everyone should listen much and speak little. He should be slow to become angry. 20 A man’s anger does not allow him to be right with God. 21 Put out of your life all that is unclean and wrong. Receive with a gentle spirit the Word that was taught. It has the power to save your souls from the punishment of sin.
1 John 3:18
18 My children, let us not love with words or in talk only. Let us love by what we do and in truth.
Proverbs 15:23
23 To give a good answer is a joy to a man, and how pleasing is a word given at the right time!
Proverbs 10:19-21
19 The one who talks much will for sure sin, but he who is careful what he says is wise. 20 The tongue of those who are right with God is like fine silver, but the heart of the sinful is not worth much. 21 The lips of those who are right with God feed many, but fools die for want of understanding.
Proverbs 15:1-2
A gentle answer turns away anger, but a sharp word causes anger. 2 The tongue of the wise uses much learning in a good way, but the mouth of fools speaks in a foolish way.
Luke 12:2-3
2 For there is nothing covered up that will not be seen. There is nothing hidden that will not be known. 3 What you have said in the dark will be heard in the light. What you have said in a low voice in a closed room will be spoken with a loud voice from the top of houses.
Romans 10:8-11
8 This is what it says, “The Good News is near you. It is in your mouth and in your heart.” This Good News tells about putting your trust in Christ. This is what we preach to you. 9 If you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved from the punishment of sin. 10 When we believe in our hearts, we are made right with God. We tell with our mouth how we were saved from the punishment of sin. 11 The Holy Writings say, “No one who puts his trust in Christ will ever be put to shame.”
James 3:9-12
9 With our tongue we give thanks to our Father in heaven. And with our tongue we speak bad words against men who are made like God. 10 Giving thanks and speaking bad words come from the same mouth. My Christian brothers, this is not right! 11 Does a well of water give good water and bad water from the same place? 12 Can a fig tree give olives or can a grape-vine give figs? A well does not give both good water and bad water.
Psalm 19:14
14 Let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing in Your eyes, O Lord, my Rock and the One Who saves me.
1 Corinthians 13:1
I may be able to speak the languages of men and even of angels, but if I do not have love, it will sound like noisy brass.
